  • ...Smoking

Hi I'm 16 and I'm home schooled. The stress of trying to get all my schoolwork done for 11th grade has been driving me insane. So much so that I've been taking my parent's cigarettes. I don't know if I should tell my Councilor because I don't want him to tell my parents. I've been seeing him for my depression and self harm but I don't want to risk him telling my parents I've been smoking. What should I consider doing?

Smoking definitely is not healthy for your so maybe telling your counselor will help you realize that and she can help you stop. I'm sorry to hear that you are overwhelmed with stress but this is something you should be honest with your counselor about so she can help you manage it and give you some tools on how to cope. Also if you feel that home schooling is too stressful for you then maybe talk to your parents about going to public or private school, just a thought! If you want to talk about this further call 2NDFLOOR at 888-222-2228 or you can text us at the same number from 4-8PM.
Here is a link as well about the impact cigarettes can have & what is in them @ http://www.lung.org/stop-smoking/smo...ww.google.com/ or http://www.lung.org/stop-smoking/smo...cigarette.html.
