  • Dad, Mom, it is worth it!......

I am a 14 year old girl who decided to donate 100 dollars for cancer. My parents are mad, and they dont trust me anymore? Cancer is an important cause, and that is what I thought. So at school, I was talking to guidance, and she said I did something so generous, but my parents dont look at it this way because we are not rich, and they said I lost a fortune. That is not what I had in mind. Before, I felt proud. But now, I am ashamed, guilty, upset, uncomfortable, and akwardly misplaced. It feel like I killed somebody. My parents dont understand. It is my own fu*king money and I can do anything with it. Please help me feel better...

From what you are describing, it sounds like what you did was absolutely right. If you make your own money, you can choose to spend it however you want. Donating money to help others is wonderful and it sounds like it went to a really great cause. Perhaps you can try talking to your parents about it again and letting them know why you donated your money. But ultimately it was your decision if it was your money. Also, in the future there are other ways to make donations if you don't want to give money or are unable to make a donation. You can always volunteer somewhere and donate your time. Good luck! And remember to call 2NDFLOOR anytime at 888-222-2228 to talk!
