Without knowing your age, it's difficult to answer this question. Age of consent in NJ is 16 years old, but if you are living with your mom, she is allowed to set rules about leaving the house and who you are allowed to spend time with. When you turn 18 and can legally leave the house and live on your own, she no longer has that control. In the meantime, try having a heart to heart with her and tell her your situation. Maybe ask if you can even invite your crush over for dinner one night to meet her.
