It sounds like this kid is not sure who he likes from your writing. It is your decision whether you ask him out or not, but just think about if you want to be with a guy who wants to be with someone else too. I'm sure it can be hard liking someone when you are not certain how they feel about you. You could always ask him how he truly feels about you and go from there.
