i am depresssed and know one knows it. I have been depressed for about 6 months and have never told anyone. One of my friends came out about being deprssed and i feel that if i tell anyone that they will not believe me, but i have no friends to tell anyway. what do i do?

There are people that will believe you if you tell them you are depressed, even if your friends don't believe you. Try looking in your school for help...teachers, guidance counselors and even school psychologists can help you with depression. If that doesn't work, maybe you can speak with your parents about talking to a professional mental health counselor. Most insurances include a mental health section so there would probably be little out of pocket expense. Depression is not uncommon, so don't feel like you are alone or can't be depressed because one of your friends is. The most important thing with depression is not keeping it to yourself. Than what do I do if I don't have the gut to tell anyone. I am affraid if I tell my parents they won't belive me cause I am always happy around them and they will think that my friend caused me to be depperesed.i don't cutmyself but I have tried making myself throw up. And thanks for the response before and I am hoping you can help again. this page is helping getting my feelings out and let someone know! Thanks 2 floor!

Why is it you are scared to tell people the truth? Is it because you believe you have a mental illness rather than a physical one? There is nothing to be ashamed and unfortunately, like most illnesses, if left untreated, they don't get better, they get worse. Be brave and take that first step. Treatment is the answer, not throwing up. That will just lead to other problems.

how would i tell? who would i tell? People aalways ask me if i am alright and of course i say ya and start to smile. could you list some sings of depression if possible, because i am not sure if i am getting the right info. from online.

You can tell a parent, teacher, guidance counselor, mental health professional or anyone that asks how you are doing instead of lying to them and saying you are fine. Sadness thrives on being kept inside. Express your feelings and what you have going on to anyone that will listen to you. Getting information online about depression is not going to be as accurate as going to a mental health professional. Look some up in your area and see about getting yourself into treatment.

Signs of depression
Some signs of depression are usually well kept secrets by the people who are depressed. Unfortunately, people cannot hide it completely. Some signs are being very detached from life, not taking care of normal needs, and thoughts of suicide. Also rather unfortunately, people who are depressed tend to think about suicide an cutting themselves, which is never the answer. Cutting can be very addicting and is never healthy for the person. The thing you would want to do is start to be positive and start trying to enjoy the things you like. Summer is coming and the stress of school will be off your back! I garuntee that summer will be a great thing for you
