Please try to understand me. So i am turning 14 in 5 days, and I became depressed latley, thinking about how im gonna enjoy life as a teenager. I sleep alot, and i am drowning in what if thoughts. And worst of all,we're going on a trip while on my period. So, if my mom remembers, she will bug me about telling my father. And I told her no for the millionth time. Why does my whole family need to know that im bleeding out of a wierd place. I dont understand why its significant. Over there, im gonna be exposed, so I have no room to go to and lock myself into to feel better. I wanna cut, but I know its not healthy. Help me.

How you are feeling right now about growing up is normal. It can be very hard to adjust in your teenage years but instead of thinking about the what if's perhaps you can just think about the present and think of the good things. For example; your birthday is coming up in a few days, maybe you could try thinking about some fun things you could do for it! As for the trip you should try to look at that as time to spend with your family and try to enjoy yourself, you may not be able to isolate yourself but that may be a good thing, because being around those that love you can actually help with your depression. It is not always good to hide from how you are feeling, it is always better to talk to someone about it and to continue to do things that you enjoy. If you do not feel comfortable telling your father about your period you should try and sit down with your mother and talk to her about it so that she understands better how you are feeling. You can always give us a call at 2NDFLOOR @ 888-222-2228, we are here 24/7! You can also text us Friday nights from 4pm-8pm @ 908-280-0235.
