  • I just need help

Me and my boyfriend have been together for almost 5 months already, and we haven't seen each other yet. People say we are stupid because we live 10 minutes away, but we both have parents who wont let us leave the house. My dad doesn't even know we're together. I love him so much. We talk about everything. He has gotten cheated on before just like me, and we both trust in the other to never make the other feel the pain they felt with the cheating. We have a lot of trust, but there is an issue.

He talks to his ex who cheated on him and it makes me uncomfortable because she has ways of making people go back to her. I don't know how to tell him about this. I want him to feel free to talk to who he likes, but she isn't someone I'd like in his life. I'm sure he wouldn't leave me for her, but with MY past of guys running back to their ex's after getting "bored" of me, it just always makes me on edge. I don't know what to do about this. Please help!

I can understand that feeling. I have never been in a romantic relationship, but I never want to hurt anybody that I interact with in any way. If you feel that this ex isn't somebody who is good for him, tell him about it. The fact that you trust each other this much is even better. Be honest, but don't make it seem forceful. Tell him what you think about this person, and make sure he knows that you aren't bad-mouthing anybody. Most people see things from their point of view and not from another, so a different perspective can be refreshing. Your boyfriend sounds really nice, so I'm certain that he will understand completely. It can be hard to talk about sensitive topics while worrying about what the other person might think, but it will be worth it. I hope this helps somewhat! :-)

Hi I'm so glad you reached out! You're not alone, I have struggled with something similar myself. Since you cant see each other, try to have the conversation on video chat. Just take time to explain how you feel without accusing him of anything; stress the fact that it has nothing to do with your trust in him, it's just something you are insecure about. Communication is so important! Please reach out if you need more help! Feel free to call the hotline for immediate and/or professional help, as I am just helping based on experience. Good luck!
